Women’s Cross Country Claims First at Asics/Winthrop Invitational

Neville captures individual title

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte women's cross country won the garnet division, 1st out of three, at the Asics/Winthrop Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20. Individually, sophomore Jessica Neville (Cold Spring, N.Y., Haldane) clocked a time of 18:48 for first place out of the 23 runner field.

Last season, Queens placed third out of seven teams in the meet.

 The Royals scored 27 points to edge out Lander University who had 30 points.

Contributing to the Royals win were Neville, senior Katherine Carman (Terrace Park, Ohio, Ursuline Academy), third, freshman Holly Annas (Granite Falls, N.C., South Caldwell), fourth, senior Chandler Tribble (Clinton, S.C., Laurens Academy), seventh, and junior Sarah Khan (Miami, Fla., Hialeah Miami Lake), 12th.

The five runners who scored were the only runner s for the Royals in the meet.

The Royals will race again on October 3 in the Highland Dual in Valle Crucis, N.C.
