Hickory, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne University women's basketball team on Tuesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium in Hickory, N.C. The bears advanced to 10-1 as they pushed their winning streak to eight games with the 69-46 win over Queens who are now 2-5 overall.
Lenoir-Rhyne led the entire game as the the Royals struggled fom the field shooting 36% from the floor as the Bears connected on 48% of their shots. The largest lead came in the second half as the Bears stretched the gap to 28 points.
Leading scorer Marissa Hudley (Charlotte, N.C., Harding University ) led the Royals with nine points. Jazmine Edmonds (Manassas, Va., CD Hylton) was close behind with eight points and five rebounds.
L-R, off to its best start since the team ran off 14 straight victories to start the 1979-80 campaign, was led by freshman guard Cameron Sealey (Gastonia, N.C.) and junior center Denise Moore (Newport News, Va.) with 11 points each.
The Royals return to action at home on January 5 in a home game against Barton College. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
