Early Goal Lifts No. 20 Lees-McRae Over Queens

Queens hosts Barton on Saturday at 4:30pm

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Nick Robinson scored in the first six minutes of the Conference Carolinas pairing of Queens University of Charlotte and No. 20 Lees-McRae College  at the Queens University of Charlotte Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park to give the visiting Bobcats the 1-0 win.

In a highly physical match, the Royals(6-5-1/2-4-1 CC) and the Bobcats(12-2-1/6-0-1CC) were even in shots throughout the game with both teams registering five shots in the first half. Lees-McRae did hold an offensive advantage during the entire contest with corner kicks. In the first half the Bobcats took six corners and another five in the second. Queens earned one during the entire game.

In the second half Queens out-shot Lees-McRae in shots, 13-11, with a flurry of shots coming in the last few minutes of play. The Royals came close to evening the game as Andrew Groff, Luke Graycheck and Kevin O'Donnell all sent shots just over the crossbar.

With a total of 24 shots in the game the goalies were only forced to make fives saves for only six shots were on net. Three Queens players led the team with three shots and Lee Squires recorded the game-high with five.

Queens hosts Barton College at 4:30pm on Saturday. The game has been marked at the Queens senior day.
