THE MATCHUP

Thursday evening marks the sixth all-time meeting between Queens and Jacksonville, with the Royals trailing the series 3-2. However, Queens enters the second meeting this season following a dominating 77-51 in their most recent meeting. In their last matchup, the Royals defense held the Dolphins to 51 points and converted 13 turnovers into 25 points.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Queens came up just short in their last matchup against Bellarmine, falling 78-75 in a tight game inside Knights Hall. The Saturday showdown saw 12 ties and 10 lead changes before a late 9-2 run from the Knights proved to be the difference. Carson Schwieger and Avantae Parker led the Royals with 17 points each, while Yoav Berman added to the score with 14 points and a career high of eight assists.
                                                                                                                                                                      
QUEENS LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK IN ASUN PLAY
Queens enters Thursday evening looking to snap a three-game losing skid after a perfect 7-0 start. The perfect record marked the best start to ASUN play since joining the league in 2022. The last time Queens rattled off seven straight wins was their final year of Division 2 in 2021-22, when they strung together 16 consecutive wins.                                                                                                                                                
                                                                                                                                                                                   
NCAA TOP 100 SHOOTERS
Sharpshooter Chris Ashby is tied for 92nd all-time in NCAA history for three-pointers made. The Houston, Texas native is eight threes away from moving into second all-time in ASUN history for threes made, behind Darius McGee (528; Liberty)
 
QUEENS BRING TOP 60 SCORING OFFENSE TO JACKSONVILLE
The Royals have been one of the nation's highest scoring mid-major offenses this season, averaging 83.4 points per game, a mark that ranks 52nd in the country, which makes them the highest amongst ASUN programs.
                                        
BERMAN'S BUCKETS
Since ASUN play got underway, sophomore Yoav Berman has stepped up with 13.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. The Tel Aviv, Israel native has reached double figures in 9-of-10 league games, and is coming off 14 points, a career-high eight assists, and four rebounds against Bellarmine.
 
EVERYBODY EATS
The Royals ability to distribute the scoring throughout the lineup has resulted in 11 games this season where five guys reach double figures in the same game.
 
FRESHMAN FACILITATOR
Rookie Jordan Watford has been one of the nation's best first-year distributors, ranking 23rd in the country among freshmen with 3.7 assists per game. Watford ranks 214th in the country and sixth in the league in assists per game. Watford is averaging the most assists per game by a true freshman at Queens since Vashon Fullwood distributed 5.3 per game in 1991-92.
                                                 
STREET DOGS
A new face behind the Royals bench, Buddy, has become a staple in the Royals locker room. A new tradition started this season, head coach Grant Leonard awards Buddy, a hollow replica of a dog, to the "Street Dog of the Game," or the person who makes an energetic impact in the game. Buddy sits by that player's locker until the next game and has even made appearances in the postgame press conferences.
 
JACKSONVILLE (9-14 OVERALL, 4-6 ASUN)
HOME/ROAD SPLIT
Jacksonville enters Thursday night 9-14 overall, and 4-6 in ASUN play. The Dolphins have been fierce inside Swisher Gymnasium, posting a 6-3 record, and looking to turn it around on the road as they are 2-10 this season.
 
STOUT DEFENSE
The defensive-oriented Dolphins present a challenge as they limit their opponents to 72.5 points per game, the second-best mark in the ASUN.
 
BOARD HUNTERS
Jacksonville is one of the best squads in the ASUN on the glass, outrebounding their opponents by 2.8 boards per game.
 
FRESHMAN PHENOM
Freshman Hayden Wood has led the Dolphins in ASUN play with 12.3 points per game while adding 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game.
