CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte head men's basketball coach Grant Leonard is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. OD Anosike (An-oh-SEE-kay) to his staff as director of student-athlete development and assistant general manager. Anosike, one of the most prolific rebounders in NCAA history, joins Queens following a distinguished 13-year international playing career. His rare combination of elite playing experience, academic achievement, player development expertise, and athletics administration insight positions him to make an immediate impact on the Royals program.
 
"OD has a bright future in college basketball," Leonard said. "He was a very accomplished player both collegiately and professionally; plus, he pushed the envelope academically, earning his Ph.D. I am glad he is with us at Queens."
 
Anosike's professional basketball career spanned 11 countries, including Italy, France, Spain, Greece, and most recently Turkey. During the 2025-26 season, he averaged 10.5 points and 11.9 rebounds for iLab Basketbol. Along the way, he competed in some of the world's most respected international leagues, winning three championships and leading his league in rebounding on 10 separate occasions. He also participated in NBA Summer League competitions with both the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics organizations.

Prior to embarking on his professional career, Anosike enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in Siena University basketball history. A four-year standout for the Saints, he became one of only a select few players in program history to surpass 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. A Lou Henson Mid-Major All-American, he ranks second all-time at Siena in rebounds and remains one of the most accomplished rebounders in NCAA history. Anosike led the nation in rebounding during both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, earned two All-MAAC selections, was named 2013 Robbins/ECAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and helped guide Siena to a MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
Beyond his accomplishments on the court, Anosike excelled academically. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Siena in 2013 and a master's degree in sport management from Texas A&M University in 2016. Anosike then went on to earn a Ph.D. in public administration from Liberty University in 2026 while continuing to compete professionally overseas, a rare achievement that reflects his commitment to comprehensive excellence. His dissertation, The Stewardship of Governmental Funding in Public Higher Education: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Study, examined how Division I public university leaders navigate fiscal stewardship, institutional priorities, and student success amid complex financial challenges.
 
Anosike also brings experience in athletics administration and student-athlete development. In November 2025, he returned to Siena as a development and external relations intern within the athletics department, working alongside senior leadership on fundraising, NIL initiatives, and stakeholder engagement. He was also selected for the prestigious 2025-26 NAADD Earl Edwards Inclusive Development Program cohort, a nationally recognized leadership initiative administered by NACDA that prepares and advances future leaders in athletics development and fundraising. During his offseasons, Anosike served as a camp director and lead clinician with Breakthrough Basketball and as a court supervisor with the Under Armour Association, overseeing game operations, coordinating event logistics, and supporting the development of hundreds of aspiring student-athletes. His diverse background as a professional athlete, administrator, scholar, and skills instructor provides a distinctive perspective that will benefit the Queens men's basketball program and the broader campus community.
 
The Royals are coming off a 21-14 season where they finished 13-5 in Atlantic Sun Conference play. Queens captured their first ASUN Tournament title and made their first appearance in the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament. In just four Division 1 seasons, the Royals have put together back-to-back 20-win seasons and have become the fourth school in NCAA history to advance to the NCAA D1 Men's Basketball Tournament in their first-year as a full NCAA DI member institution. During the Royals' three-year reclassification process, they were not eligible to compete for NCAA Championships.
