Przewalla and Gonzalez Earn ASUN Weekly Honors

ATLANTA, GA. – Queens University of Charlotte men's swimming and diving swept this week's ASUN Conference weekly honors, with sophomore Matheus Przewalla named ASUN Swimmer of the Week and graduate student Juan Gonzalez earning ASUN Diver of the Week.

Przewalla led the Royals in their dual meet against Davidson, turning in a pair of standout performances. The Campinas, Brazil native claimed first place in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:49.99, scoring 710 points in the event. He also secured a podium finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, helping Queens to a decisive 198-100 victory over the Wildcats. A versatile performer in both breaststroke and IM events, Przewalla has quickly established himself as one of the league's top swimmers in just his second season.

"Matheus continues to thrive after finishing his freshman year," said Queens Director of Swimming Jeff Dugdale. "Having a strong summer and now kicking off the 2025–26 year in the fashion he did is exciting."

On the diving side, Gonzalez made program history in the Royals' meet against North Carolina. The graduate student delivered a breakthrough performance on the 3-meter board, recording a score of 313.28 to win the event. His performance qualified him for the NCAA Diving Zone B Championships, making him the first diver in Queens history to earn a postseason berth. Gonzalez's historic achievement highlights the continued growth and rising competitiveness of the Royals' diving program.

"Juan has been an amazing addition to our program," Dugdale added. "It's been great to see him get started so strongly — qualifying for the NCAA Zone meet in Atlanta in March already and winning the 3-meter at UNC. We look forward to a stellar year and a possible NCAA bid for him at the end of the year."
