Rusty Jerger Returns to Queens as Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Queens University of Charlotte Director of Swimming Jeff Dugdale has announced the addition of Rusty Jerger as an assistant coach for the Royals' men's and women's swimming programs.

Jerger returns to Queens after recently serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Auburn University during the early part of 2025. In that role, he assisted with training and athlete development within one of the premier programs in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), gaining valuable experience at the Division I level.

A native of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jerger competed for Queens during the 2020–21 season as a freshman, contributing to the team's 2021 Division II National Championship. That year, he earned all-American honors and was named to the Academic Honor Roll. Following his freshman season, Jerger transferred to Auburn, where he continued to elevate his performance. In 2024, he was named Auburn's Most Improved Swimmer and posted a time that ranked top-10 in program history in the 200 Fly. He also earned Academic Honor Roll recognition during his time with the Tigers.

Jerger expressed his excitement about returning to the program where his collegiate career began.

"Queens is a special place to me. It's where I got my first taste of collegiate swimming. At Queens I experienced amazing coaching and an elite championship pedigree. Coach (Jeff Dugdale) gave me the opportunity to begin my collegiate career as a swimmer. Now Jeff has blessed me with another opportunity to begin my coaching career where it all started. I am thrilled to be joining the Queens coaching staff! Go Royals!"

In his new role, Jerger will assist in all facets of the Royals' swimming programs, including training, recruiting, and program development.
