CHARLOTTE, N.C. — 23 swimmers from the Queens University of Charlotte men's & women's swimming programs are getting ready to head to Ocala, Fla. for the annual CSCAA National Invitational Championship (NIC) on March 13-15. Prelims are scheduled to start at 9:30 AM each morning while the finals are scheduled for 6:00 PM each evening.
The National Invitational Championship (NIC) is a postseason competition for Division I swimmers who are not selected and/or eligible for the NCAA Division I Championships but have achieved NCAA B Zone Standards.
Swimmers can automatically qualify for the NIC by either winning their respective Conference Championship event or meeting the CSCAA 'A' Standard for that event during the season.
For relay events, the CSCAA states that qualifying times belong to the team, allowing any swimmer to participate in a relay once the team has met the standard. Furthermore, teams with at least four individual qualifiers may enter any relay event using their fastest time, even if it does not meet the meet's qualifying mark.
