JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team saw three Royals land on the 2025 ASUN Baseball postseason honors and awards list, which was officially released on Monday afternoon. Right-hander
Landry Jurecka garnered Second Team All-ASUN recognition, and
Ryan Brown was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team. Sophomore
Jake Barbour was honored on the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Jurecka, a junior from Greenwood, Arkansas, was lights out this season, posting a team-best 3.21 ERA across 84.0 innings of work. Jurecka broke the single-season school record for strikeouts with 88 while also breaking the single-season record for innings pitched. In conference play, Jurecka turned it up further with a 1.95 ERA across 64.2 innings of work. The right-hander tossed a pair of complete games against Stetson and Jacksonville to become the fifth player in school history to throw two complete games in the same season. Against the Dolphins, Jurecka was electric, striking out 14 batters, which tied the single-game school record set back in 2018.
"Landry was as good as it gets all year," said Queens baseball head coach
Jake Hendrick. "I'm very proud of the progress he made and how he continued developing over the last year."
This season, Jurecka held the fourth-lowest ERA in the conference and ranked second in strikeouts behind the ASUN Pitcher of the Year, Jonathan Gonzalez. The 14-strikeout performance against the Dolphins was the most by a pitcher in the ASUN against a league opponent this season.
Joining Jurecka on the postseason honors was freshman
Ryan Brown. The Ashland, Kentucky native started his year strictly on the mound and finished with the third-best ERA on the team at 5.61 ERA across 59.1 innings pitched. In conference play, Brown was even more effective with a 4.89 ERA across 11 appearances. The right-hander pitched in a season-high 6.2 innings with seven strikeouts against Florida Gulf Coast on April 12
th.
Halfway through the season, Brown made his way into the Royals lineup and made an immediate impact by hitting .289 on the year with three doubles and three home runs. The rookie notched eight multi-hit games and ran an on-base streak up to 10 straight games.
"Ryan was excellent in his first year. He excelled on the mound and at the plate. I love his competitiveness, and I can't wait to see how he develops in the coming years."
Rounding out the Royals honors was
Jake Barbour, who earned All-Academic nods. The ASUN All-Freshman Team recipient from a season ago earned a 3.74 GPA while working towards his degree in Communications. On the field, Barbour hit a team-best .252 across 52 starts and finished with 12 extra-base hits and 20 RBI. The Raleigh, North Carolina native was clean in the infield, turning 19 double plays and holding a .975 fielding percentage.
Austin Peay and Stetson, the two Division winners, controlled the major awards. Cameron Nickens and Cole Johnson from Austin Peay were named the Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Lorenzo Meola and Jonathan Gonzalez from Stetson earned Defensive Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors, respectively. Roland Fanning from Austin Peay was tabbed the ASUN Coach of the Year after the Governors went 43-12 overall, and 26-4 in conference play.
