The Short Story:
In the second game of a back-to-back, the Queens University of Charlotte baseball team fell at No. 4 North Carolina by a final score of 14-3 on Wednesday night. The Tar Heels scattered 13 hits on the night and capitalized on four errors by the Royals defense. The midweek marked the Royals third game this season against a D1Baseball Top 25 program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Queens jumped on the nationally-ranked Tar Heels in the top of the first inning with a timely swing following an error. Jake Barbour reached second on a one-out error by the Tar Heels shortstop before Nick Alderfer was hit by a pitch to put Queens in action. Logan Schmitt battled North Carolina starter Folger Boaz before sending an RBI single into right center to give Queens a 1-0 advantage.
-After being held scoreless in the bottom of the first, North Carolina answered back in the second inning. Hunter Stokely led off the inning with a single to right field before Alex Madera belted a two-run homer to right field to give the Tar Heels a 2-1 lead.
-The visiting Royals regained the lead in the top of the third inning when Anibal Rivera roped a two-out double off the center field wall to bring across Logan Schmitt and Nick Alderfer for the 3-2 advantage.
-North Carolina tied it back up in the bottom of the third inning. Kane Kepley worked a leadoff walk before swiping second. A failed pickoff attempt at second resulted in a Queens error, allowing Kepley to advance to third and set up a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jackson Van De Brake.
-The Tar Heels broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring nine runs on seven hits and capitalizing on three Queens errors. The big inning propelled North Carolina ahead 12-3.
-After being held off the board for three straight frames, North Carolina sealed the victory in the bottom of the eighth inning when Hunter Stokely sent a two-run blast to right center.
