DELAND, FLA. – The Queens softball team came up short in both games of their ASUN doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, falling 10–2 in the opener before dropping game two, 7–1, to Stetson at Patricia Wilson Field.
GAME ONE
In game one, Queens got on the board in the second inning after stringing together timely at-bats. Madyson Daughtry sparked the offense with a base hit and came around to score, while Taylor Jones drove in a run to give the Royals an early 2–0 edge. However, that lead was short-lived as Stetson erupted for eight runs in the third inning and never looked back. Queens finished with three hits, also including a double from Kaylee DeJesus.
GAME TWO
Game two saw Queens again get on the board in the fifth inning. Queens' lone run came in powerful fashion, as Lauren Byrd launched a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning. Lindsey DeRoeck added a single to round out the Royals' two-hit effort. Stetson broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning to complete the day.
