Queens Shows Fight in Late Rally but Falls to Boston University, 10-2

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte softball team struggled to contain a potent Boston University offense, falling 10-2 in five innings on Sunday morning at Terry Field for their finale of the Eagle Classic on Sunday.

ROYAL RUNDOWN

  • Boston University wasted no time getting on the board, plating a run in the first inning on a solo home run by Brooke Deppiesse. The Terriers extended their lead in the second, capitalizing on a Queens defensive miscue to score three runs.
  • Boston tacked on four more runs in the third inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple from Livia Christopher. The Royals found themselves in an 8-0 deficit heading into the fourth inning.
  • Queens finally broke through offensively in the top of the fifth. Brooke Piper led off the inning with a single before advancing on a fielder's choice. Emma Frye followed with another base hit, putting two runners on with two outs. Kaylee DeJesus delivered in the clutch, lining a two-run single to center field to put Queens on the board.
  • Boston quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two more runs to push the lead back to eight. The game ended via run-rule after five innings.
  • Boston's Kasey Ricard (7-6) earned the win, pitching 4.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. She allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter.
  • Queens finished with five hits, led by DeJesus, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
  • Piper and Frye each recorded a hit and a run scored.
