THE MATCHUPS
The Royals will look to pick up their first-ever win against the Governors, as they enter the contest 0-3 in the all-time series.
Queens dropped their last meeting with the Govs in Curry Arena last season by a score of 63-38.
Jordyn Weaver finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (7-13 overall, 1-8 ASUN)
- Queens enters the match up with an overall record of 7-14 and a conference mark of 1-9. Their lone conference win came on the road against North Florida in a high-scoring 84-81 victory.
- The Royals matched last season's ASUN conference win total which also included a win over North Florida.
- Aylesha Wade has been a standout performer in recent games, stepping up as a primary scoring option. Over her last four outings, she has been a key contributor, including a 27-point performance at Jacksonville where she knocked four three-pointers.
- Ana Barreto and Jermany Mapp also contribute as consistent scoring threats, with Barreto hitting 32.0% from beyond the arc.
- In the frontcourt, Kemia Ward has been an efficient scorer, shooting 51.1 percent from the field while leading the team in blocks with 35 on the season.
- The Royals are averaging 67.0 points per game while allowing 72.6, with a slight rebounding edge over opponents at 38.0 boards per game. The team has been active defensively, forcing 8.4 steals per contest, but turnovers remain an issue, as they average 17.6 per game.
- The Royals have also been strong in the rebounding battle, holding a slight edge over opponents with a 38.0 to 37.1 rebounding margin. Kemia Ward has been a key factor on the boards, averaging 5.4 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING THE GOVS (10-11 overall, 5-5 ASUN)
- Austin Peay enters the matchup with an overall record of 10-11 and a conference record of 5-5. They have been competitive in league play, securing notable wins against North Florida, North Alabama (twice), Bellarmine, and Eastern Kentucky.
- Last time out Austin Peay State University women's basketball team took a 45-35 loss at Florida Gulf Coast, at Alico Arena.
- The Govs offensive attack is led by Sa'Mya Wyatt, who averages 13.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 58.0% from the field. The freshman standout has claimed multiple newcomer and freshman of the week ASUN honors this season, including a week nine performance that landed her Player, Newcomer, and Freshman of the week honors.
- La'Nya Foster is another key contributor, adding 12.0 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds per contest. Foster ranks among the top 25 in the ASUN in scoring and ranks ninth in the league in rebounding.
- Anovia Sheals provides secondary scoring with 9.7 points per game, while Abby Cater and Jordan Boddie offer additional depth.
- Defensively, Austin Peay allows 63.8 points per game while averaging 8.0 steals and 3.0 blocks per game. The Govs have a negative rebounding margin, getting outrebounded by 4.3 boards per game.
