THE MATCHUPS
Sunday marks the first meeting between Queens and UNC Wilmington in women's basketball.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (3–3 overall)
- The Royals are averaging 61.7 points per game, shooting 36.4 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from three on 7.2 made threes per contest.
- Queens is pulling down 37.8 rebounds per game, helped by strong work from its frontcourt, and has recorded 40 or more rebounds in three of six games this season.
- Defensively, Queens is generating 7.8 steals per game, with active guard play creating pressure and transition opportunities.
- The offense has been powered by sophomore forward Brenae Jones Grant, who leads the team at 13.2 points and 8.7 rebounds, shooting 58.5 percent from the floor and already recording two double doubles and a career high 28 points at South Carolina State.
- Senior guard Ana Barreto adds 12.0 points per game and ranks among the ASUN leaders with 18 made threes, shooting 36.0 percent from deep while also contributing thirteen steals and a team best 32.1 minutes per game.
- Graduate guard Jermany Mapp provides steady scoring at 9.2 points per game, highlighted by 17 points at Winthrop and eight made threes through six games.
- Senior guard Dayuna Colvin is Queens primary playmaker, totaling 21 assists while adding 7.2 points and 3.8 rebounds.
- Freshman Breah Franks continues to be the most productive reserve, averaging 5.0 points on 50 percent shooting, including double figure efforts at Winthrop.
SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS (2-3 overall)
- UNC Wilmington enters Sunday at 2–3, with wins over N.C. Central and Presbyterian and losses at East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, and Gardner-Webb.
- The Seahawks average 65.6 points per game while allowing 70.0, sitting at –4.4 in scoring margin. They shoot 41.6 percent from the floor and 30.6 percent from three on nearly 20 attempts per game.
- Rebounding has been a strength, with 39.0 boards per game and a +3.0 margin, including 63 offensive rebounds through five contests.
- Turnovers have been a challenge, as UNCW averages 23.0 per game while forcing 16.8, resulting in a –6.2 turnover margin. Opponents are scoring off turnovers at a high clip.
- Rori Cox leads UNCW with 14.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and a team-high 16 assists, while shooting 43.1 percent and 77.4 percent at the line.
