Royals Wrap Up Final Day of Seahawk Classic, Jesse George Named to All-Tournament Team

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team finished off the final match of the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Classic battling against the Seahawks, falling in a 3-0 decision (12-25, 20-25, 25-27).

UNC Wilmington took control early. The Royals fought back, but were held to a .036 hitting percentage with seven kills and six errors. The Seahawks, led by Olivia Womble's 13 kills, took the first set 25-12.

Queens improved early on in the second set, with Alleigh Johnson contributing 11 kills and Kayla McDuffie adding four kills. Despite the Royals' fiery start, UNC Wilmington's defense — featuring 58 digs — kept the Royals in check. The set remained competitive, but the Seahawks edged out the Royals 25-20.

The final set was a nail-biter, with both teams trading points. Anna Grace Sparks was a standout for Queens, adding six kills and three aces. Despite a late rally by Queens that tied the game at 24-24, UNC Wilmington closed the match with a 27-25 win.

  • Kendall Buish added 8 assists and 11 digs.
  • Olivia Womble led the way for the Seahawks with 13 kills and four blocks.
  • Jesse George was named to the UNC Seahawk Classic All-Tournament team. Playing all ten sets for the Royals, George picked up 23 digs and five service aces.

The Royals will be back in action next weekend in the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. to face host team Wofford, Presbyterian and Campbell beginning on Sept. 6.
