CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte softball team finished off their season on Friday, May 10 after a 9-0 defeat against the No. 1 ranked Eastern Kentucky Colonels in the 2024 ASUN Championship.

GAME 3 - QUEENS 0, EASTERN KENTUCKY 9
- Eastern Kentucky was able to land on the scoreboard first after three unearned runs passed home plate off of an error, a sacrifice fly, and a hit-by-pitch.
- Queens would get the bat on the ball against ASUN Pitcher of the Year Maddi Rutan, but would fail to score in the first.
- Jordan Dunn would come into the circle for Queens in the second inning. The junior would strike out two Colonels in the frame, but EKU would find another run to cross the plate - putting them at a 4-0 advantage.
- In the top of the third, Kaylee DeJesus would pick up the first hit of the day for the Royals with a single to center field.
- A sacrifice bunt from Madison Cantoni would put DeJesus in scoring position, but two strikeouts would follow, ending the inning.
- A leadoff triple from the Colonels would spark a five run, six-hit inning. Abby Craver would come into the circle in relief and strike out three EKU batters in a row.
- Taetum Viganksy would jump into the circle for EKU in the top of the fourth. Kasidi Staley would poke a single up the middle in the inning, but a 1-3 double play and a groundout would retire the Royals side.
- Craver would author another two strikeouts in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Royals their bats back in the top of the fifth.
- In their last chance at the plate, the Royals would get a baserunner on, but would be held off from scoring. The Colonels would solidify the 9-0 victory.
BALLPARK BULLETS
- DeJesus and Staley would pick up the two hits for the Royals on the day - two singles.
- Craver finished with a pitching staff-leading five strikeouts in the circle, a conference-game season high for the Clemmons, N.C. native.
- The Royals final record of 29-26 in 2024 marks the most amount of wins in a season for the program since 2018, when the Royals tabbed 35 wins.
