GAME 3 - QUEENS 4, STETSON 3

  • After Jordan Dunn came out and led her squad through three-straight outs inside the circle, Queens lit up the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning after Lindsey DeRoeck laced a triple to right center to score Ashlyn Mickler, who had gotten on base after being hit by a pitch.
  • Dunn would sit down the Hatters in order with three strikeouts in the top of the second inning, keeping the Hatters off the base path.
  • After two scoreless innings, Stetson snagged a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth off a two-run double from Nadia English.
  • The Hatters would hold their 2-1 lead until the bottom of the fifth inning, when three straight errors plagued the defense. Brooke Piper would bring in two runs off a single through the right side of the diamond while Kaylee DeJesus would launch a sacrifice fly to put the Royals ahead by two runs (4-2).
  • Stetson's Freeman would send a home run over the left field wall to cut their deficit to one, but Autumn Courtney would come in the circle for the Royals and pitch the save to shut the Hatters down by a final score of 4-3.

BALLPARK BULLETS

  • Dunn's four strikeouts on the day marked a conference-game career-high for the junior.
  • Courtney's save was the sophomore's first save of the year in the circle.
  • The Dunn/Courtney duo held the Hatters to only two hits in the series finale.

Up next, the Royals will head to Jacksonville to face the Dolphins in a three-game series starting on May 3 at 2 PM ET.
