rd as the Royals welcome the Winthrop Eagles for a Battle of I-77. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus. Tuesday night's game will be a blue out and fans can purchase their tickets in advance by visiting the Queens Athletics

THE MATCHUP
Queens and Winthrop are set to square off for the seven meeting all-time with the Eagles commanding a 4-2 advantage in the series. Winthrop enters Tuesday night having won three straight games against Queens. The two programs first met in 1990 as the Royals took down the Eagles in Rock Hill. Since 2022, Queens is 4-1 against Big South opponents with their only loss coming at Winthrop a season ago.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (3-4 overall, 0-0 ASUN)
- Prior to a short break for the Thanksgiving holiday, Queens went to Johnson City for a multi-team event hosted by ETSU. The Royals took down USC Upstate in dominant fashion before falling to the Buccaneers on Sunday night.
- Malcolm Wilson has been a key player to watch this season as the graduate student is averaging a nation-best 4.9 blocks per game. Wilson became the fourth player in NCAA Division 1 men's basketball since 2014 to block 34+ shots before December 1st.
- Chris Ashby is looking to become the fourth player in program history to make 100+ threes in a single season, and the first since Van Turner in 2019-20. Following a stellar weekend at the ETSU Tournament, the Houston native moved into seventh all-time in three-pointers made. Against USC Upstate, Ashby drained seven shots from downtown for the fourth time in his career.
- Fresno State transfer Leo Colimerio turned in his best week as a Royal prior to the break averaging 11.7 points and 4.0 rebounds across three games. Against ETSU, the Sao Paulo, Brazil native turned in a season-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.
- Bryce Cash is settling into his second season and packing the stat sheet averaging 5.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Against Western Carolina, the Charlotte native dished out a career-high nine assists. His performance in the backcourt has landed the Royals fourth in assists.
- Since joining the Division 1 ranks in 2022, the Royals have tried to schedule opponents from the Carolinas. In those games, Queens is 5-5 with victories over High Point (2), Gardner-Webb (1), Western Carolina (1), and USC Upstate (1).
- Queens struggled to connect from downtown through the first five games of the season shooting 28.7 percent, the lowest mark since 2012.
- Known for being one of the nation's fastest teams in the country, the Royals are capable of putting up points in a hurry. Queens ranks 53rd in tempo and the Royals are 22-10 in Division 1 when eclipsing 80 points.
- Last season, Queens finished last in the league in scoring defense as opponents were netting 81.7 points per game. Within one year, the Royals have flipped the script defensively and now sit fourth in scoring defense surrendering 72.7 points per game. Aside from the Utah and BYU games, the Royals have only allowed 62.8 points per game.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES (6-3 overall, 0-0 Big South)
- Winthrop enters Tuesday night on a two-game winning streak after taking down LIU and Averett last week in Rock Hill. The Eagles hold a 6-3 overall record with a pair of losses to ACC foes in Virginia Tech and Louisville.
- The Eagles will be searching for their first road win of the season after falling in Blacksburg and Louisville. Winthrop is coming off a season in which they posted a 6-9 record away from Winthrop Coliseum which tied for the second most road wins in the Big South.
- Mark Prosser is in his fourth season at the helm of the Eagles program. Under his direction, Winthrop is 61-44 and the Eagles have made a pair of Big South Tournament Quarterfinal appearances and a title game appearance in his first season in 2021-22.
- Winthrop has found ways to get to the charity stripe earning the second most free throw attempts in the country. The Eagles are cashing in nearly 21 points from the line per game which is sixth nationally.
- Similar to the Royals, the Eagles play with a lot of tempo ranking 21st in the nation in pace. Winthrop is the 46th scoring offense in the nation averaging nearly 84.0 points per game.
Three Eagles are averaging double figures as two-time First Team All-Big South honoree Kelton Talford leads the way with 15.1 points per game. The senior forward is also pulling down 7.6 rebounds per game.
- Preseason Second Team All-Big South recipient K.J. Doucet returns after being one of the league's top scorers a season ago. This year, Doucet is averaging 14.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
- Winthrop was picked to finish second in the Big South Preseason Poll behind High Point.
