LEXINGTON, Va. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team put together a historic performance in their final non-conference match of the 2024 regular season as the Royals took down VMI on Tuesday afternoon 3-0. The victory marked head coach
Oliver Carias' 100
th career win at the helm of the Royals program. Senior defender
Samuel Idinge also made history on the day playing his 36
th straight complete game as he broke the program's all-time career minutes record set by Ryan Kawczynski in 2016.

TURNING POINT
The visiting Royals jumped on the Keydets with a 32
nd-minute goal from
Oliver Kneer. The Royals capitalized on a set piece taken by
Caio Brandao that was initially saved by the VMI goalkeeper, but the rebound found the boot of Kneer for the early goal. Queens would add a pair of insurance goals in the second half on deep balls.
Caio Brandao sent a deep pass finding a running
Jamahl Brown who ripped a shot on goal. The strike was deflected off the crossbar by the VMI goalkeeper before bouncing off the chest of a Keydets defender and into the goal. Just 13 minutes later, the Royals sealed the match as
Oliver Kneer netted his second goal of the match after winning a 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Sophomore Oliver Kneer recorded a brace behind his first two career goals. The Tuscaloosa native turned in three shots across a quality 59 minutes of work in his first career start.
- Junior Jamahl Brown netted his first goal of the season, and second of his career. Brown made his seventh start of the season and turned in 71 minutes of action.
- Veteran Caio Brandao dished out three assists on the night as he leads the team in goals, assists, and points. Leontios Zacharia added an assist on the 55th minute goal.
- Evan Morris earned his sixth start between the pipes and posted his fourth career clean sheet. The Fort Mill native picked up six saves on the day.
- The Queens backline consisting of Samuel Idinge, Felipe Marty, and Milan Miric turned in complete games.
- Caio Brandao, Amin Ibrahim, Leontios Zacharia, Jamahl Brown, Milan Miric, Brock Gramann, and Josh Petty rounded out the attack with a shot. Petty was tied for the game-high with three shots, including one on goal.
- Amin Ibrahim made his first career start and added a shot across 63 minutes. Evan Hart made his first collegiate appearance in goal and turned in a save in 10 minutes of work.
- VMI outshot Queens 13-12 on the day, but both squads finished 7-7 with shots on goal.
- The Royals earned seven set-piece opportunities in the corner while limiting the Keydets to one.
