Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (2-11) is on a two-game winning streak after defeating Ball State (3-10) this afternoon by a score of 3-2 in overtime. The win over the Cardinals is the first over a DI opponent for the Royals in program history.

INSIDE THE MATCH
Following goals scored by the Cardinals in the first and second quarter of today's match, the Royals entered halftime trailing 2-0. However, a goal from Maddie Just in the third would cut the margin to one. Sydney Smith then found the back of the net in the 54^th minute to knot the game at 2-2 and force overtime.
 
In the extra period, a foul in front of the cage in the 62^nd minute would give the Cardinals a penalty stroke that they missed wide. Following a Cardinals shot saved by Madison Destefano, the Royals earned two penalty corners, scoring the game-winning goal on the second.

• Sydney Smith now leads the Royals this season with three goals after scoring today's game-tying and winning goals.
• Maddie Just notched the first goal of her collegiate career in the win.
• Madison Destefano was fantastic in the cage, recording 12 saves.
