Queens Track and Field Adds Bianca Knight to Coaching Staff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Director of Track & Field and Cross-Country Jake Krolick is excited to announce the addition of Bianca Knight to his staff as an assistant track and field coach. Knight comes to the Queen City with an extensive winning background as she was a gold medalist Olympian and world record holder.

"Coach Knight has been involved in various aspects of the sport of track & field for 20 years", said Coach Krolick. "When you can add an Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder to your staff, you have to pinch yourself and make sure you're not dreaming. Coach Knight has spent a lot of time over the past decade working with athletes of various levels and backgrounds in track and field. She is exactly who we need to guide our young group of sprinters and to really elevate this group to become a big part of our program."

The Pearl, Mississippi native is currently the Meet Director for the Mississippi Meet of Champions, held in Jackson, Mississippi. Knight helped revive the meet after over a decade of dormancy by assembling a team to make a schedule of events, marketing the meet to the media, and helping secure vendors to create a family-friendly atmosphere. Knight is also the CEO of the Bianca Knight Foundation, whose mission is to promote excellence in youth track and field sports. Her foundation helped increase awareness of disparities between low-income communities and lack of resources and offer financial support and mentorship to coaches, schools, and student-athletes.

Bianca Knight is also the owner of the digital application, BKTrackstars. This application increases access to ranking content for athletes of all levels of competition and uses the latest technology and expert input to enable performance improvement.

Prior to stepping into a coaching realm, Knight was a sprinter for the USA track and field team. In 2011, Knight won the gold medal in the 4 x 100m relay at the World Championships. In the 2012 Olympics, Knight was a part of the 4 x 100m relay team that won the gold and currently holds the world record in that event. Knight was apart of the world record quartet that included Tianna Madison, Carmelita Jeter, and track and field great Allyson Felix. She was also named the 2012 Co-Athlete of the Year by Clarion Ledger.

"I'm so excited to be a part of the Queens Track and Field family", said Coach Knight.  "I'm looking forward to making an impact on these student-athletes and helping create a winning culture at Queens."
