Royals Women's Basketball Announces 2023 Non-Conference Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte head women's basketball coach Jen Brown is excited to announce the Royals 2023 non-conference schedule on Thursday afternoon. The non-conference slate features 13 games, including seven inside Curry Arena. The Royals will square off against a pair of Power 5 opponents in 2023 after taking on Washington last season.

"This year's schedule is going to get a lot of people's attention by the mere fact that we were able to add two high-profile SEC teams – one being the reigning NCAA National Champions," said Coach Brown. "We have strategically chosen opponents who will push us to our limits and prepare us for ASUN play."

The Royals are set to open the season on the road with two quality SEC tests. Queens will kick off the season on Monday, November 6th at Ole Miss, a program that is coming off a Sweet 16 appearance that featured an upset win against #1-seeded Stanford. The Royals will remain on the road heading into the weekend as they will travel to Baton Rouge for a matchup with the reigning National Champions from LSU on Thursday, November 9th.

Following the meeting with the top-ranked Tigers, the Royals will return to Charlotte for back-to-back home games. Queens will welcome Johnson & Wales for their home opener on Tuesday, November 14th before hosting USC Upstate on Friday, November 17th. The Royals and Spartans met last season and Queens snapped a five-game losing skid with a dominant 69-48 victory in Spartanburg.

Queens will begin a stretch away from the Queen City beginning on Tuesday, November 21st at UNC Asheville. The Royals and Bulldogs met for the first time last season and Asheville took the opener 68-57. Queens will return to campus for a Sunday showdown with Wesleyan College of Macon before heading back on the road. The Royals will challenge South Carolina State on Wednesday, November 29th before squaring off against Winthrop on Sunday, December 3rd.

With five games remaining before league play, the Royals will welcome four opponents to Curry Arena. The homestand begins with Presbyterian on Wednesday, December 6th, a team that the Royals haven't faced since 2004. Queens will conclude the weekend with Columbia College on Sunday, December 10th.

Following a six-day hiatus, the Royals will make their final non-conference road trip to Radford on Sunday, December 17th. Queens will return to Charlotte for a midweek matchup with Western Carolina on Wednesday, December 20th before departing for the holidays. The Royals will wrap up their non-conference schedule and the new year with Gardner-Webb on Saturday, December 30th.

"Our 2023-24 schedule is a true testament to our commitment to excellence. We are determined to compete against the best in the nation while we foster a winning mentality on and off the court. The team is ready to embrace challenges that await us during this upcoming season."
