Kenny Dye Inks Deal with KK Metalac Valjevo

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball standout Kenny Dye has inked a professional contract with KK Metalac Valjevo of the Basketball League of Serbia. The Queens all-time scoring leader becomes the 31st Royal to sign a professional contract since 2013.

"Kenny has worked tirelessly over the years to improve his game to prepare to be a pro," said head coach Grant Leonard. "His best trait is that he makes the simple plays look easy and routine and he just wears the other team down with his discipline and toughness. We are ecstatic for Kenny and anticipate that he will be a huge success for his pro team."

This past season, Dye set the program record for points, assists, games played, games started, and career minutes. The Jacksonville, North Carolina native averaged 16.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game en route to being named ASUN Second Team All-Conference. Dye was an elite playmaker in the league finishing top three in scoring and assists per game. Against Jacksonville State, Dye poured in a career-high and single-game program record 34 points to shatter the Royals all-time scoring mark.

The 6-0 point guard joins Royals legends Todd Wither, Shaun Willett, Mike Davis Jr, Lewis Diankulu, and Jachai Taylor as current Royals to land professional contracts.

"As a coach, it's very rewarding to watch our players accomplish their dreams in basketball," said Coach Leonard. "We work constantly to prepare them for their next steps in life and to have so many guys get paid to play basketball is a true testament to Queens' overall mission which is to provide a transformational experience to these young men."

The Royals are set to embark on their second Division 1 season as a member of the ASUN Conference. Last season, Queens posted an 18-15 overall record and a 7-11 conference mark, including a quarterfinal appearance in the ASUN Tournament. Queens has turned in 15 or more wins in nine straight seasons dating back to 2013-14. The Royals return four starters who averaged over 20.0 minutes per game last season. Queens ranked second in the league in scoring averaging 77.7 points per game and second in the league in rebounds per game with 37.3.
