Queens Men's Basketball Signs Jaxon Pollard

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte head men's basketball coach Grant Leonard is excited to announce the addition of Jaxon Pollard to the 2023 signing class. Pollard comes to the Queen City following two seasons at Salt Lake Community College in Utah.

"Jaxon is a great player who will fit seamlessly in our style of play," said coach Leonard. "He makes winning plays every which way whenever he steps on the floor and his game continues to grow as he works on it. We are very excited that Jaxon and his wife Zadie are a part of our family for the next two seasons and beyond."

A native of Cedar Hills, Utah, Pollard brings a tremendous amount of success to the Royals program. As a junior, Pollard led Lone Peak High School to the 2018 State Championship and was named MVP. In the Geico National Tournament during that season, Pollard scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds. In his senior campaign, the 6-7 forward averaged 16.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. The tremendous success earned him First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-State nods. In the Tarkanian Classic, his performances landed him First Team All-Tournament team praise.

For the past two seasons, Pollard guided Salt Lake Community College to a 64-7 overall record, including a consistent top 10 ranking in the NJCAA Top 25. In the 2021-22 season, the Bruins went 35-2 and lost in the NJCAA National Championship game. This past season, SLCC posted a 29-5 record and won the SWAC Championship, Region 18 Championship, and District 1 Championship en route to another appearance in the NJCAA National tournament. Pollard is coming off a season in which he averaged 8.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Bruins.

Jaxon will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Royals while he studies in the McColl School of Business. Pollard picked Queens over Southern Utah University and Longwood University. His dad, Alan Pollard was a forward for the University of Southern California before graduating. Jaxon's uncle, Scot Pollard played at Kansas before a successful 11-year NBA career with five different organizations.

Jaxon is married to Zadie Pollard and they will reside in Charlotte. Pollard will be returning to the Queen City after spending two years in Charlotte serving an LDS Mission.

"Although I lived in Charlotte for two years and love this place, that's not why I chose to go to Queens," said Pollard. "I chose to go here because of Coach Grant and the culture of this program. It's all about getting a little better each day and playing as a team. The players here are tough and play extremely hard, and I feel that I can fit right in. I couldn't be more excited!"

The Royals are coming off their first Division 1 season as a member of the ASUN Conference. Queens posted an 18-15 overall record and a 7-11 conference record, including a quarterfinal appearance in the ASUN Tournament. Queens has turned in 15 or more wins in nine consecutive seasons dating back to 2013-14. The Royals return four starters who averaged over 20.0 minutes per game last season. Queens ranked second in the league in scoring averaging pouring in 77.7 points per game and second in the league in rebounds per game with 37.3.
