CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's outdoor track and field teams finished their D1 debut at the Charlotte 49er Classic Saturday on a high note as multiple field athletes made top ten finishes in their events.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Martin Knauer placed second in the shot put with a best throw of 17.11m. Knauer also placed tenth in the discus finals with a throw of 44.55m.
- Austin Cline and Amadeus Waluga also placed sixth and tenth in the shotput. Cline threw a distance of 15.37 and Waluga threw 14.36m.
- Peggy Prevette finished tenth in the pole vault with a best 3.00m jump.
- Christina Palmer placed seventh in the shot-put finals with a throw of 12.40m.
- Jakob Nutzel placed second in the discus finals with a throw of 50.66m.
- Melanie Welsing finished sixth in the 200m finals with a time of 24.65.

"As I mentioned earlier this week, this was a great opportunity to see us transition to the outdoor events and where we stand. We excelled in the throws and the hurdles, and those events should really propel us this outdoor season and elevate our men's team especially compared to the outdoor season. I'm excited to see some of our top distance runners go to Raleigh Relays next week along with a few of the above-mentioned athletes. It will be a great opportunity at one of the top 5 meets in the country to see how we compete."
