Queens Softball Announces Full 2024 Season Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Head Coach Kella Goins and The Queens University of Charlotte softball team released their schedule for the 2024 season this afternoon, embarking in their second year as part of the ASUN conference.

Coach Goins will plunge into her first full season at the helm of the Royals program after the departure of Stacey Schramm last season. Goins went 12-17 after taking over the program in April 2023.

"For us, it's about making a name for ourselves," Head Coach Goins said on the OrthoCarolina Queens Coaches Show on Nov. 29. "With the group of kids that we have and the support staff that I have, they make it easy. We all just work so well together." You can find Coach Goins' full interview here.

Beginning the season, the Royals will head to UNC Wilmington from Feb. 8-10 to face UNC Wilmington, Northern Kentucky, North Dakota State, and DePaul in a five-game stretch.

The season features 24 home games, kicking off their home slate against Canisius University as the finale of the UNC Charlotte Tournament on Feb. 19.

From there, the Queens squad will face other non-conference opponents in Presbyterian, Norfolk State, and Winthrop at the Stick to finish off the month of February.

Heading into the busy month of March, Queens will head southwest to Clinton, S.C. to take part in the Presbyterian Tournament to face Albany and Drexel on March 1. The Royals will face three more non-conference foes in North Carolina Central, Gardner-Webb, and Radford before ASUN conference play begins on March 16 against Florida Gulf Coast who went 13-11 in the ASUN in 2023.

On March 23, Queens will start an 11-game home streak including North Alabama, Western Carolina, North Florida, and reigning ASUN Champions Central Arkansas. Last season, the Sugar Bears snagged their first ASUN title after completing an impressive 22-2 conference record.

The rest of April will feature stints against NC State, Furman, and Campbell outside of ASUN play before heading back into action against Lipscomb (April 13-14), Austin Peay (April 20-21) and Stetson (April 27-28).

Queens will finish off the regular season with a three-game series in Jacksonville against the Dolphins on May 4-5.
