Lauren Byrd Named to ASUN All-Freshman Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Queens University of Charlotte softball standout Lauren Byrd has been named to the 2025 ASUN All-Freshman Team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. The freshman infielder capped off an impressive debut season by earning conference recognition as one of the league's top newcomers.

Byrd appeared in 45 games for the Royals, making 42 starts and establishing herself as a consistent contributor at the plate.  Byrd logged multi-hit games against NC A&T, Jacksonville, Boston U, North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, and West Georgia throughout her debut season, and finished with a .264 batting average, recording 34 hits, 19 RBIs, 10 doubles, and 10 home runs - the most by any freshman in Division I program history. Byrd's ten home runs ranked tied for fourth in the ASUN this season.

Defensively, Byrd served as the Royals' primary catcher. She posted a .935 fielding percentage, recorded 116 putouts and 42 assists, and played a pivotal role in controlling the run game, throwing out 6 baserunners and allowing only 4 stolen bases in 10 attempts.
