MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's track & field team closed the regular season today at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier, securing three NCAA marks and two school records.
Mark Schittenhelm was able to set a school record yet again in the 400- meter hurdles clocking a time of 52.30 seconds for second place. His time moves him into the 19th-place spot nationally and is a great improvement from his time of 53.75 seconds at the start of the outdoor season.
"I want to shout out Coach Dustin Stewart who has done a great job working with Mark and our sprinters since his arrival in mid-March," said Queens Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Jake Krolick. "He has definitely been elevating them and Mark is a great example of the work he has done in a short time."
Also recording an NCAA provisional mark and school record was
Simon Rey in the pole vault. He took second place with a mark of 4.85 meters in the event.
Finally,
Martin Knauer recorded another NCAA provisional mark in the shot put finishing first with a throw of 17.83 meters.
Also on the track,
Dionysius Rolle recorded a new personal best in the 100, finishing ninth in the prelims with a time of 10.99 seconds.
The NCAA will announce the field of athletes who will compete at this year's championships on May 17.
