MOUNT OLIVE, N.C./CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track teams hit to road this weekend looking to secure and improve upon NCAA marks in the final weekend of competition before the 2022 DII Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships take place.
At the Mount Olive First Chance, Mark Scittenhelm took first in the 400-meter hurdles recording a time of 52.50 seconds. His time is a new school record and an NCAA provisional mark.
In the shot put,
Martin Knauer recorded a throw of 18.11 meters to take first place as well. His mark was also an NCAA provisional mark.
At the Lee Last Chance,
Carlin McFadden clocked an NCAA provisional time of 2:09.76 in the 800-meter run. Her fifth-place time ranks second all-time at Queens.
Adam Wright also recorded a provisional mark, taking 13
th in the men's 800 in 1:50.88.
In the 1500, both
Stina Pettersson and
Mitchel Cox recorded NCAA marks as Pettersson took eighth in the women's event in 4:32.42 and Cox took fifth in the men's event in 3:44.39. Cox's time is second all-time at Queens.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Remi Liberse dropped nine seconds from his season-best time to take third place in 8:56.99. He now sits 16
th nationally.
The NCAA will announce the field of athletes who will compete at this year's championships on May 17.
