CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track and field team completed their final meet ahead of the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Championships this weekend at the Charlotte Invitational.
Melanie Welsing recorded a time of 13.67 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles finishing first in the event. Her time was an NCAA provisional mark and ranks third in Division II currently. Welsing also took fifth in the 100 in a time of 12.27 seconds.
Also highlighting the day was
Martin Knauer who took second in the shot put with a mark of 18.20 meters. The mark is an NCAA provisional and moves Knauer into the top 10 nationally. Knauer also took first in the javelin throw with a mark of 54.51 meters.
Mark Schittenhelm and
Stefan Jungmichel also competed today racing in the 400-meter hurdles taking third and sixth, respectively.
The Royals will be back in action competing for a pair of South Atlantic Conference Championships in Anderson, S.C., May 5-6.
