RESULTS
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track and field team continued its outdoor season today competing at the Lenoir-Rhyne Outdoor Open.
Highlighting the Royals at the meet was
Melanie Welsing who took first in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdle events. Welsing recorded a time of 13.80 seconds in the 100H which was an NCAA provisional mark. She then posted a time of 1:04.66 in the 400H which was a personal record.
In the men's 110-meter hurdles,
Florian Daireaux and Stephan Jungmichel raced to second and third place. The pair also took fourth and fifth in the long jump.
Queens also had a good showing with its distance crew at the meet as
Stina Pettersson took fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:51.87. In addition,
Madison Webster and
Sarah Watts raced to second and fifth-place finishes in the 1500.
In throws,
Christina Palmer took third in the women's shot put (11.72m) and seventh in the javelin (30.82m) while
Amadeus Waluga took was second in the men's shot put event (14.12m).
Gudmundur Danielsson also took third in the javelin with a throw of 51.82 meters.
Additionally, Queens'
Jan Lukas Becker ran in the 5,000-meter invite at the Virginia Challenge taking 35
th place in a time of 14:000.23 which was an NCAA provisional time.
Queens' final tune-up before heading into the SAC Championships will be next weekend at the Charlotte Invitational.
