CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team maintained their dominance picking up their third consecutive victory with a convincing 6-1 win over Limestone University on Tuesday afternoon at the Howard Levine Tennis Center. The Royals improved to 7-4 overall and 6-1 in South Atlantic Conference play.
"Our men our getting better with each outing," stated Head Coach
Billy Boykin. "This is a competitive group and they are hungry to improve. I'm excited to see how high this team can climb."
Queens took the doubles point by sweeping all three matchups to open the day.
Edoardo Bottino and
Laurenz Blickwede won 6-3 to maintain perfect play as a pairing.
Win Steveker and
Yoan Roussinov followed through with a 6-2 victory on No. 2 while
Jan Malmon and
Euan Lynes won 6-4 in the third flight.
Singles play saw the Royals win five points to seal the home win as Bottino was a 6-3, 6-1
winner at No. 1 and Steveker tallied a commanding 6-2, 6-2 sweep in the second singles flight.
Laurenz Blickwede fought hard to win 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, followed by wins at Nos. 4 and 5 by
Berk Enc and Roussinov respectively.
The Royals will turn their focus to another conference clash facing off against Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, April 2 at 2.30 p.m. from the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
