RALEIGH RELAYS | ADIDAS WINTHROP INVITE
RALEIGH, N.C./ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track & field teams wrapped competition at the Raleigh Relays and Adidas Winthrop Invite this evening.
At the Raleigh Relays, Queens' distance runners rounded out the weekend racing in the 800-meter run.
Carlin McFadden and
Stina Pettersson each ran in the women's race clocking times of 2:13.56 and 2:15.02, respectively. On the men's side,
Adam Wright and
Mitchel Cox recorded times of 1:53.04 and 1:53.76, respectively.
For the weekend, Queens recorded four DII provisional marks at the Raleigh Relays with two coming in the men's 10,000-meter run from
Jan Lukas Becker and
Mathurin Boutte, and the other two coming from
Stevie Lawrence in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and
Fatima Alanis in the 5,000-meter run.
Highlighting the Royals' efforts at the Winthrop Invite today would be throwers
Martin Knauer and
Amadeus Waluga who turned in a one, two finish in the men's shot put. Knauer recorded a DII provisional throw of 17.74 meters (58-2.5) while Waluga's mark of 16.67 meters (54-8.25) was also a DII provisional performance. The pair also finished second and sixth in the discus throw.
On the track, Sam Roberts raced to a fourth-place finish in the 1500 meter run in 4:06.74 while
Lance Sotelo took seventh place in 4:09.34.
Additionally,
Mark Schittenhelm turned in a fifth-place run in the men's 400 in 51.06 while
Eduardo Leon took eighth in the men's 800 in 2:04.23.
For the women,
Evie Wild finished 16
th in the 400 in 1:02.49 while
Madison Webster was fourth in the 800 in 2:20.19. Additionally,
Ashlee Lowe raced to a 12
th-place finish in the preliminary round of the 100 recording a time of 12.57.
Off the track,
Christina Palmer earned eighth place in the discus throw with a mark of 38.41 meters (126-0) and 10
th place in the shot put with a toss of 11.06 meters (26-3.5)
Queens will be back in action next weekend with athletes competing in the Angelo State David Noble Relays, Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
