FINAL RESULTS
PITTSBURGH, Kan. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track & field teams wrapped competition at the 2022 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships this evening. Over the two-day Championship meet, the Royals turned in a combined total of nine all-American performances and broke four school records.
Queens' women completed the meet in 10
th place to match their best finish as a program. They totaled 24 points.
Melanie Welsing earned six points for the Royals today after finishing third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.41 seconds. Her time broke the new school record she had set just yesterday in the prelims.
Fatima Alanis and
Stevie Lawrence raced in the 3,000-meter run where Alanis finished fifth in 9:25.45 to earn her second all-American accolade of the meet. Her time was also a personal record. Lawrence took 17
th in the race in 9:42.99.
For the men,
Mitchel Cox earned two points for the Royals after racing to a seventh-place finish in the mile in 4:11.92.
Additionally,
Martin Knauer recorded a throw of 17.22 meters (56-6) for 11
th place in the shot put. He would earn second-time all-American honors for his performance.
Lastly,
Simon Rey completed competition in the heptathlon in 14
th place with a total of 4,546. He earned 908 points in the 60-meter hurdles after clocking a time of 8.30 seconds before securing 808 points in the 1,000-meter run after finishing in 2:45.98.
