Queens Multis Look Forward to Final Day of JDL Multi and Track Meet

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte's multi athletes from the men's track & field team got to work today at the JDL February Multi and Track Meet, grabbing five of the top 10 spots in the heptathlon heading into the final day of action tomorrow. 

Through four events, Queens' Niklas Klei, Simon Rey, Gabriele Brandi, Florian Daireaux, and Teodor Sobczyk sit in third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh place, respectively. 

Klei has 2,897 points after recording a time of 7.11-seconds in the 60-meter dash for 844 points, and marks of 7.05-meters in the long jump for 826 points. He also threw a distance of 11.62-meters in the shot put for 583 points and cleared the bar at 1.85-meters in the high jump for 670 points.

Rey was not far behind with 2,885 points. In the 60-meter dash, he clocked a time of 7.30-seconds for 779 points. He then jumped a distance of 6.40-meters in the long jump for 675 points before completing a toss of 14.54-meters in the shot put for 761 points. Lastly, Rey recorded a mark of 1.85-meters in the high jump for 670 points.

Brandi heads into day two in fifth place after earning 2,771 points. He secured 765 points with a time of 7.34-seconds in the 60 before recording a mark of 6.73-meters for 750 points in the long jump. He then recorded a toss of 11.67-meters for 586 points in the shot put before jumping 1.85-meters in the high jump for 670 points.

Daireaux sits sixth with 2,674 points after earning 749 points in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.39-seconds. He then jumped a distance of 6.44-meters for 684 points in the long jump before tallying 622 points in the shot put with a throw of 12.26-meters. He completed the day with a jump of 1.79-meters in the high jump for 619 points.

Lastly, Sobczyk finished the string for Queens in eighth with 2,556 points. After crossing the finish line in the 60-meter dash in 7.48-seconds for 719 points, Sobcyzk recorded a jump of 6.49-meters in the long jump for 695 points. He then threw for a distance of 11.86-meters in the shot put for 598 points before ending the day on a jump of 1.70-meters in the high jump for 544 points.

Klei, Rey, Brandi, and Daireaux will all be looking to improve their standings in the heptathlon national rankings tomorrow as they close out the competition. Currently, Rey sits seventh while Klei, Brandi, and Daireaux rank 14th, 28th, and 29th, respectively.

The men will finish up the heptathlon tomorrow while Queens women will compete in the pentathlon. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
