Royals to Face No. 23 Wingate on Senior Day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (6-18, 5-18 SAC) will play its final game of the regular season inside Curry Arena celebrating seniors Tia McMillian and Taylor Stevens. The Royals will be facing the No. 22 Wingate University Bulldogs (22-4, 20-3 SAC).
 
LAST TIME OUT
- The Royals traveled to Hickory, N.C., on Wednesday night where they faced the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears, falling 77-61.
 
- Lead scorer for the Royals Kalaya Hall led the way with 17 points while Malea Garrison added 14 points. Taylor Stevens scored 10 points as Jori Wilks and Kennedy Fuller chipped in with nine and seven points, respectively.
 
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens has been led by Hall who is averaging 20.4 points per game this season and continues to rank second in the conference in the category. Additionally, Kristy Hamze is averaging 12.1 points per game. Taylor Stevens is still holding the top spot in the league in assists with 4.4 per game.

-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015. Two of their opponents since then have been nationally ranked.
 
-Head Coach Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens enters the year in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners.

ABOUT THE WINGATE
-The Bulldogs top the league in standings and are the 22nd-ranked team in the WBCA Poll and they rank No. 19 in the D2SIDA Poll.

-In their last meeting, Wingate suffered a 79-67 loss to No. 23 Catawba. Four Bulldogs scored in double figures as Haleigh Brandon posted a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Hannah Clark added 15 points, five assists, and three steals. Bryanna Troutman chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds and Jaia Wilson had 10 points and four rebounds off the bench.
 
-Leading the Bulldogs this season on the court are Troutman and Clark. Troutman is currently averaging 18.6 points per game while grabbing 8.6 rebounds per game. Clark is averaging 12.7 points per game. Brandon is chipping in 9.9 points per game and leading under the boards with 13.3 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday marks the 30th meeting between these two programs with Wingate leading the series 27-2.
 
- In the first meeting this season, the Bulldogs defeated the Royals 91-59. Hamze led the charge for Queens dropping 18 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-5 from three. Hall added 10 points and four assists.

- The Royals' last win over the Bulldogs came on Feb. 9, 1993, when they won 76-73 on the road.
