GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track and field programs had a handful of distance athletes competing at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open today.
How It Happened:
- Mitchel Cox raced in heat one of the men's 5,000 meter taking 16th with a time of 14:37.72. His time was a new personal record in the event.
- Samuel Balboa ran in heat three of the men's 5,000-meter run finishing second with a time of 14:49.76. The race marked Balboa's collegiate career debut on the track.
- Zak Freeland (8:36.84) and Thomas Heal (8:45.72) raced in the men's 3,000-meter run finishing in fifth and ninth place, respectively. Both freshmen made their indoor track and field season career debuts.
- Mark Schittenhelm ran in the men's 400-meter dash taking 10th place with a time of 49.86 seconds.
- Natalie Bash ran in heat two of the women's 5,000-meter run finishing 15th in 17:59.68.
- Katharina Krosta competed in heat two of the women's 5,000-meter run as well taking 20th in a time of 18:28.75
