Queens Ready to Face Bowling Green on Tuesday Night

BOWLING GREEN, OHIO – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team (5-2) is set to return to the court on Tuesday night when they take on the Bowling Green Falcons (2-4) inside the Stroh Center at 7:00 p.m. The Royals are seeking their first true road victory of the season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Royals saw their three-game winning streak snapped at George Mason on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 72-65. Despite the loss, five Royals reached double figures, including a season-high 16 points from BJ McLaurin on a 4-of-5 mark from behind the arc. AJ McKee reached double figures for the seventh straight game as he sits second in the team in scoring. Queens fell to 0-2 against A-10 opponents.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Tuesday night marks the first meeting between the Royals and the Falcons. Queens will face a MAC opponent for the first time in program history.

QUEENS UNIVERSITY OF CHARLOTTE (5-2 overall; 0-0 ASUN)
  • Queens enters Tuesday afternoon averaging 81.3 points per game on 48-percent shooting from the field and 33-percent from behind the arc. In the last two seasons, Queens is 27-0 when they reached the 80-point threshold.
  • The Royals defense is allowing 70.3 points per game on 43-percent shooting from the field and 30-percent from behind the arc.
  • Senior Kenny Dye is the leader of the veteran Royals squad. Dye is averaging a team-high 16.7 points per game while hauling in 4.1 boards and dishing out 7.0 assists per game. The Royals are 100-22 when Dye is in the starting lineup. Across the ASUN, Dye is top five in points per game and second in assists per game.
  • Junior Gavin Rains has been a force on the block for the Royals to open the season. The Trinity, N.C. native is averaging 8.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. The forward leads the ASUN in rebounds per game and sits third in field goal percentage. Rains has been a double-double machine producing 17 double-doubles in his career, and three this season.
  • AJ McKee has been a consistent producer this season reaching double figures in all seven games. McKee posted a career-high 16 points against Lynchburg as he sits second on the team in scoring and minutes per game.
  • BJ McLaurin has been a weapon off the Royals bench this season averaging 8.6 points and 5.6 rebounds across 20.0 minutes per game. The Fayetteville native is coming off a season-high 16 points after draining a career-best four three pointers in the loss at George Mason.
  • Sophomore Kalib Mathews has started back-to-back games for the Royals and is averaging 9.0 points and 3.3 rebounds across 25.7 minutes of action. Mathews has been a menace on defense leading the team with 12 steals and six blocked shots.
  • The Royals are outrebounding opponents this season 293-221. Through seven games, Queens is third in the ASUN in rebounds per game with 40.7 and second in the league in offensive boards per game with 13.3.
BOWLING GREEN STATE FALCONS (2-4 overall; 0-0 MAC)
  • Bowling Green enters Saturday afternoon on a four-game losing skid with losses to Wright State, St. Bonaventure, Notre Dame, and Southern Indiana. The Falcons opened the season with consecutive victories over Air Force and Oakland.
  • Bowling Green is averaging 68.5 points per game on 40-percent shooting from the field and 29-percent from behind the arc. The Falcons defense is surrendering 75.3 points per game as opponents are shooting 47-percent from the field and 35-percent from behind the arc.
  • The Falcons are a physical unit down low as they are outrebounding opponents 37-34 through six games.
  • Leon Ayers III leads the Falcons offense scoring 17.5 points per game while grabbing 5.0 rebounds per game. The Duquesne transfer poured in a season-high 26 points on 8-for-23 shooting in the victory over Oakland. This season, Ayers is ranked 105th in the nation in points scored.
  • Senior Samari Curtis facilitates the Bowling Green offense as the guard is scoring 12.2 points per game while dishing out 3.8 assists per game.
  • Bowling Green was picked to finish ninth in the MAC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll after posting a 13-18 overall record last year.
  • Michael Huger leads the Falcons in his eighth season and holds a 117-109 overall record.
