Queens 2021 Women's Volleyball Schedule Released

FULL SCHEDULE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball head coach Hannah Long announces the release of her program's 2021 schedule which features nine home contests on top of the Queens Fall Classic tournament to kick the season off on Labor Day weekend.

The Royals reached another South Atlantic Conference Championship semifinal during their shortened 2020 Spring season and didn't see any competition outside of league play. That will change quickly though as mentioned before, the Royals will kick off their 2021 campaign by hosting the Queens Fall Classic tournament on September 3 and 4, which will feature eight teams, six of which are non-conference foes.

"As a young team, mostly freshmen and sophomores, early-season competition is critical," Long said. "During these early matches, we will be finding line-ups and rotations as well as cementing style of play. Having a robust early non-conference schedule is really important as we prepare for the challenges of a full SAC schedule this fall."

The Royals will face Chowan and Lander on Friday afternoon and evening, before returning to the court inside the Levine Center on Saturday to take on Lees-McRae in the afternoon and Young Harris in the tournament finale that night.

After that, the Royals will spend the remainder of the month of September on the road with a mixture of conference and non-conference match play beginning with a conference matchup at Lincoln Memorial on September 10.  The following day they will be on the road at Carson-Newman for back-to-back conference matches to start their nine-match road trip, which also includes conference meetings at Wingate, Coker, and Catawba.

"Being on the road early while challenging can also be a huge benefit," Long stated. "When you spend a lot of time together on the bus you get to know your teammates better. When we return to Curry Arena we should have more familiarity with each other on and off the court."

The month of October will prove to be a favorable homestand for Queens as they will host six of their 10 opponents in front of the Royals faithful. After hosting Georgia College on October 5, the Royals dive headfirst right back into conference play on October 12 starting a five-match homestand where they will welcome Limestone, Mars Hill, Lenoir-Rhyne, Anderson, and Newberry to the Queen City.

After a quick two-match road trip against Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne, they will return home for one match on November 3 to battle Catawba before going on the road for the final time against Limestone and Georgia College.

Queens will wrap up their regular season schedule by hosting conference-rival Wingate and Coker before the SAC Championship begins on November 16 with the quarterfinal round. Conference semifinals will be on the 19th, with the final taking place on the 20th in Rock Hill, S.C.
