CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team earned a trip to the South Atlantic Conference Spring Volleyball Championship Semifinals following a3-1 win over Mars Hill University on Tuesday night in Curry Arena.
Queens (7-4, 6-4, SAC) will travel to play in-state rival and top-seeded Wingate University (9-1, 8-1 SAC) at 7 p.m. inside Cuddy Arena in Wingate, N.C. on Thursday.
SERIES HISTORY
-Thursday marks the 41
st all-time meeting between Wingate and Queens with the Bulldogs holding a sizeable 33-7 advantage in the overall series.
-The Royals and Bulldogs last met on March 30 in Charlotte where Wingate collected a 3-0 win on the road. Queens held the Wingate offense to its lowest numbers of the season, forcing the Bulldog to hit just .110 in the match while collecting 101 digs and 14 total blocks. However, Queens struggled at the net and hit just .060 on the night, its lowest mark of the season.

JayCee Jones tallied 25 digs on Tuesday night to break the women's volleyball program record for career digs, a mark that had stood since the 2016 season, in leading the Royals to a postseason victory. Queens collected a 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-16) win on its home floor over Mars Hill university in the South Atlantic Conference Spring Volleyball Championships Quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
Casey Tarvin led all players with 19 kills on the outside as well as 25 digs on defense, while
Logan Witt finished with 16 kills and a .517 hitting performance in the middle.
Chanel Turner had 10 kills and 13 digs of her own for the Royals, while setter
Brooke Farley registered 51 assists and 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the year.
- Wingate University middle blockers Quin Sutphin and Maggie Young combined for 24 kills and 12 blocks Tuesday night, leading the top-seeded Bulldogs to a 3-1 victory over eighth-seeded Tusculum University. Wingate hit .331 on the night while holding the Pioneers to a .172 hitting mark behind 12 total blocks.
WINGATE LEADERS
-Wingate hits .279 as a team, the second highest mark in NCAA Division II as Sophie Schaff and Reese Blackley lead a balanced offensive attack with 93 and 91 kills, respectively. Setter Shannon Kasprak has 11.30 assists per set, ranking among the Top 5 NCAA Division II setters, while Marianna Warren leads the team with 15 service aces in a reserve role.
-On defense, libero Courtney Niesen averages 5.59 digs per set to lead three separate Bulldogs that average over three digs per set. Schaff and Sutphin each chip in more than one block per set at the net.
QUEENS LEADERS
-The Queens attack runs through Tarvin on the outside as the senior leads the way with 144 kills (3.79/set) and 11 service aces. Witt hits .237 in the middle, while Farley and Jones also have 11 serve aces each. Farley guides the offense with 366 total assists.
-Jones is one of the League's top liberos, totaling 206 digs and 5.28 digs per set for a Queens' defense that ranks fourth in NCAA Division II in opponent hitting percentage (.077) and digs per set (21.20).
Kate Majewski, Tarvin and Turner each average over three digs per set for the Royals, while Witt and fellow middle
Lindsay Elmore each have over 30 total blocks.
