Queens Women’s Volleyball Drops Four-Set Match at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball battled back after dropping the opening set, but Furman held on for a 3-1 victory (25-9, 19-25, 25-16, 25-20) Friday evening at Timmons Arena.

MATCH NOTES

  • Furman opened the match with a 25-9 first-set victory, hitting .500.
  • Queens responded in the second set, recording 17 kills and hitting .260 to even the match with a 25-19 win.
  • The Royals built an early 9-5 advantage in the second set and extended their lead to 13-6 before Furman began to close the gap.
  • Queens maintained control late in the second set, leading by as many as six points before closing out the frame, 25-19.
  • Furman regained momentum in the third set, overcoming an early 6-4 Queens lead to take a 25-16 victory.
  • The third set featured eight ties and four lead changes.
  • Queens and Furman battled through nine ties in the fourth set, including a 16-16 deadlock.

""It was great to see a lot of our freshmen get the opportunity to compete against a tough SoCon opponent tonight," said Matt Stolz. "We had a tough first set, but I was really proud of the way we bounced back and continued to fight throughout the match. There were a lot of good moments that we can build on, and we're excited to get back out there and compete again tomorrow."
