CONWAY, S.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team battled Duke throughout three sets on Saturday afternoon at The HTC Center, ultimately falling 25–13, 25–14, and 25–20 in a neutral-site matchup in Conway, S.C. The Royals move to 0–1 on the season, while the Blue Devils improve to 2–0.
TURNING POINT
- Queens opened the third set with a 3–0 run and continued to battle throughout the frame.
- After Duke pulled ahead, the Royals answered with a 3–0 stretch to cut the deficit to 12–11.
- Queens remained within one at 15–14 before Duke created separation late in the set.
- The Royals stayed within four at 20–16, but Duke scored five of the final nine points to close out the match, 25–20.

POSTMATCH COMMENTS
"We did a great job with adjusting," said head coach Matt Stolz. "We were switching around lineups trying to find answers to slow down Duke's attack. I think our team did a great job of being resilient and continuing to fight through adversity."
Stolz also highlighted Layson for stepping up in multiple areas, saying she "stepped up in a lot of ways offensively" while also contributing in serving and passing. He also praised the freshmen who made their collegiate debuts.
"We did a lot of really good things," Stolz said. "Excited to get back tomorrow to compete against Coastal Carolina."
