GVSU HOLIDAY CLASSIC
BAST CREGGER INVITE
ALLENDALE, Mich./ SALEM, Va.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track and field programs began their indoor season today with multi athletes competing at the Bast Cregger Invite hosted by Roanoke and the distance crew running at the GVSU Holiday Classic.
Both
Madison Synowiec and
Stevie Lawrence-Wrist recorded NCAA DII provisional times in the women's 5,000-meter run at the GVSU Holiday Classic. Synowiec raced in Heat 1, placing 15
th in 17:03.98 while Lawrence-Wrist raced in Heat 2 taking fourth in 17:18.70. Additionally,
Anna Janke (18:12.41) and
Madison Webster (18:40.77) ran in Heat 2 finishing 24
th and 28
th, respectively.
For the men,
Eric Keogh recorded the best 5,000-meter run time racing in Heat 2 to take third place in 14:32.90.
Mitchel Cox raced in Heat 3 to take eighth place with a time of 14:47.90, and
Lance Sotelo raced in Heat 4 to take seventh with a time of 15:21.79.
Lucy Walliker, the lone Queens competitor in the pentathlon at Bast Cregger, totaled a score of 3,113 points to take first place and set a new personal record in the event. Walliker recorded a time of 9.59 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles for 791 points before recording a jump of 1.72 meters (5-7.75) in the high jump for 879 points. She then had an eight-meter toss in the shot put for 399 points and jumped 5.22 meters for 620 points in the long jump. Walliker wrapped the competition recording a time of 2:53.86 in the 800-meter run for 424 points.
The Royals also have six competing in the men's indoor heptathlon at Bast Cregger. Through four events,
Niklas Klei is second with 2,933 points while
Simon Rey is third with 2,886 points.
Stefan Jungmichel,
Gabriele Brandi,
Florian Daireaux, and
Teodor Sobczyk follow in fifth-eighth place heading into tomorrow's final three events.
Queens' multi-group will complete competition at the Bast Cregger Invite tomorrow. The Royals will also have athletes competing at the Winston-Salem Kick-Off Classic at JDL Fast Track Dec. 4-5.
