The Matchup 

The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (1-7, 1-6 SAC) will head back on the road Monday, traveling to Wise, Va., on for another conference game against UVA-Wise (8-1, 8-1 SAC). Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside David J. Prior Convocation Center.
 

Last Time Out

  • ​​​​The Royals went up against Mars Hill Saturday evening, earning a 74-60 victory. It was the first career win for Queens head women's basketball coach Jen Brown and the team's first win of the season. 
  • Queens held Mars Hill to a 38.1 percent shooting performance and forced 11 Lions turnovers. In comparison, the Royals shot 38.8 percent from the floor and held a 46-32 advantage in total rebounds.
  • Taylor Stevens finished with 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Kalaya Hall added 20 points and dished out four assists. Christina Deng finished with a double-double with 12 points and a career-high of 15 rebounds. Amari Davis teased a double-double with nine points and nine boards, while Lauren Fields protected the paint with four blocks.

Opponent 

  • UVA-Wise is on an eight-game winning streak. The only loss the Cavaliers suffered was the first game of the season against Tusculum University.
  • The Cavaliers have five players averaging double-digit points with sophomore guard Nia Vanzant leading the charge averaging 16 points per game. Kalee Johnson adds 15.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Caitlyn Ross (13.9 ppg), Meg Crawford (13.4 ppg), and Hanna Oliver (10.4 ppg) are the remaining three.

History

  • The Royals and Cavaliers have only played in two games. Both were during the 2019-20 season. UVA-Wise won the last matchup on February 15, 2020, 76-58. Caitlyn Moore recorded eight points and seven rebounds in the game.
