SALISBURY, N.C. – The No. 16 Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team collected its second straight South Atlantic Conference win, defeating Catawba College 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center.
Queens won all three doubles contests to earn the first point of the match, beginning with a 6-2 win from the 11
th-ranked do of
Sasha Davidzenka and
Yana Fleyer.
Isabel Fornies and Viktorijia Veselinova won 6-4 at No. 2, while
Caity Klaassen and
Hannah Lehfeldt also won 6-4 at No. 3.
Singles play saw Fleyer win 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-4 in the top position, followed by a 6-2, 6-1 win from Veselinova at No. 3. Klaassen (6-3, 6-3) and Lehfeldt (6-3, 7-5) also made quick work of their opponents in the fourth and fifth flights, respectively.
Conference play continues on Saturday, April 6 when the team welcomes Newberry College to the Howard Levine Tennis Center for a match beginning at 1 p.m.
