Jasmine Cox Named Queens Head Cheerleading Coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – Queens University of Charlotte Department of Athletics welcomes the addition of Jasmine Cox as the new head cheerleading coach.

Cox is no stranger to the sport of cheerleading. She has over 24 years of cheerleading experience that she brings to Queens as well as a niche for impacting students and engaging community for success through a mission-shaped mindset to support and change the narrative of athletes through cheer.

"We are excited about Jasmine's cheerleading experience as well as her commitment to fulfilling the mission of Queens Athletics," said senior associate director of athletics Melissa Barrett.

Previously, Cox was a varsity cheerleading and competition judge for Epic Brands where she judged all-star cheer and dance events and provided feedback to coaches and their all-star programs from July 2016 to the present.

Cox also coached varsity cheerleading at Concord First Assembly in Concord from July 2015 to May 2017. There she created a successful cheer squad with in-house recruiting and managing student-athletes that prioritize academic and athletic goals in collaboration with Christian morals and values. She also choreographed competition routines and sideline chants and cheers for all athletic events and was involved in organizing pep rallies and community events in Concord and surrounding areas.

Cox has a dual master's degree in curriculum and instruction in early childhood education from Concordia in Portland, Oregon and a dual bachelor's degree in elementary education from Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. Additionally, she began the Bulldogs' club cheerleading program while completing her undergraduate studies.
