CHARLOTTE, N.C. – At day three of the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Irwin Belk Complex, four members of the Queens University of Charlotte track and field program earned All-America honors in their respective events.
In the men's javelin,
Ricko Meckes took sixth place with a throw of 67.33 meters and was named a First-Team All-American.
In the women's javelin,
Ella Fox placed ninth with a throw of 44.06 meters to earn Second-Team All-American recognition.
Danielle Konopelski recorded a throw of 42.60 meters to place 13
th.
Elijah Inuwa (3:51.31) finished 11
th and
Felix Wammetsberger (3:52.90) took 12
th in men's 1,500-meter final, both earning second-team recognition.
Martin Knauer placed 20
th in the men's shot put after throwing 16.62 meters.
As a team, the men placed 28th at the championships with eight points, while the women placed 59th with two points.
"Competing in Charlotte this weekend has been great," said Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
Jim Vahrenkamp. "We have seen so many current and former members of the team show their support with their presence. We secured several All-America recognitions this week in a myriad of events. It is so gratifying to see how this team has developed and grown over the previous five years. It bodes well for future meets to come!"
