CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The 15th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team extended its current winning streak to nine matches in a row after opening up postseason play with a 5-0 win over Coker College in the South Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon.
The Royals, the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, gained all three points over eight-seeded Coker in doubles play, beginning with an 8-3 win from the all-conference team of sophomores
Agustin Aran Martin and
Sebastian Meum in the No. 3 position.
Another all-conference sophomore duo of
Julian Bosch and
Joel Dunlap defeated fellow all-conference honorees Henrik Helbe and Mark Watt in the top spot, 8-5 before freshman
Kasper Rolfsen and senior
Andor Vas used a tiebreaker to secure an 8-7 (7-4) victory at No. 2.
Rolfsen kicked off singles play with a dominate 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4, his fourth in a row. Bosch, a Second Team All-Conference honoree, concluded the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1 over Watts, a First Team All-Conference performer. The victory moved Bosch's singles win streak to five consecutive matches.
Queens continues play in the SAC Championships on Friday, April 20 at 1 p.m. The Royals await their next opponent for a semifinal matchup at the Cayce Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C.
