Queens Travels to No. 15 Wingate for the First of Back-to-Back Ranked Matchups

 – After a week away from competition, the Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team returns to the hardwood for a road contest with rival Wingate University on Wednesday.

Opening tipoff is set for 6 p.m. inside Cuddy Arena. Live statistics will be provided by the Wingate Athletic Department and a live broadcast of the event will be provided by the Queens Sports Network with Brett Williams and Reginald Walker Jr.

Wingate has won all nine games of the series, including a 78-44 win over the Royals on January 3 inside the Levine Center.

The Royals kept the game close in the opening quarter of play, leading multiple times across the first 10 minutes of action but trailed 23-20 at the end of the period. Wingate carried momentum over into the second frame, going on a 9-2 run late in the period to build a 12-point advantage at intermission.

Wingate continued to control the game, going on a 13-0 run to begin the second half. The Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas pedal, leading to a 34-point road win.

Junior transfer Lade Adepoju led the Royals with 15 points, while freshman Kristian Eanes scored eight points in the opening half and finished with 14 points and three steals.

-Queens most recently fell in overtime 70-63 to Coker College inside the Levine Center last Wednesday. In the Royals latest victory, the team defeated Mars Hill 65-62 for its first SAC win of the year.

-In the Royals victory versus Mars Hill, Adepoju registered career-highs of 27 points and 16 rebounds while making 9-of-16 shots from the floor and 9-of-11 attempts from the free throw line.

-Queens head coach Sarah Jansen collected her 50th career win with the triumph over the Lions.

- The Royals ranked fourth among SAC schools on defense, forcing 18.5 turnovers per contest. Across the last six games, Queens has forced opponents to commit more than 20 turnovers three times.

The Royals are led by Adepoju who averages 18.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 55.3% from the floor. The Alicante, Spain native is the SAC's leading scorer and her field goal percentage also tops all qualified players. She also ranks sixth in the league in rebounds per game, including third overall with 2.78 offensive boards per contest.

-Eanes and Mendy McNeese also average double figures on offense with 10.2. and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Caitlyn Moore chips in 8.6 points per game and is shooting 38.2% from long range.

#15/21 Wingate University (17-2, 10-2 SAC)

- Wingate is ranked No. 21 in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the D2SIDA Media Poll. The Bulldogs are also No. 2 in the D2SIDA Southeast Region Media Poll rankings.

-The Bulldogs have won six games in a row, including a 12-point triumph over Carson-Newman University who was ranked No. 4 at the time.

- Center Marta Miscenko leads the Bulldogs with 17 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game while shooting 53 percent from the floor.

-Junior Caroline Averette is the team's second-leading scorer with 12.7 points per game and makes 41.4 percent of her three-point attempts.

-In the first meeting this season, junior guard Courtney Robinson led Wingate with 16 points and five assists. Fellow junior Danasia Witherspoon had 14 points and a team-best eight rebounds as the Bulldogs were without an injured Miscenko.
