Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – With just eight healthy players available, the Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team was dealt a 61-50 loss to fellow South Atlantic Conference member Newberry College on Wednesday night in the finale of a two-game road trip.

The Royals (4-10, 1-7 SAC) fell behind early after the Wolves knocked down back-to-back baskets for a 4-0 lead. Newberry (9-6, 6-5 SAC) led 15-8 after the opening period of play before extending its lead to double figures with 5:43 remaining in the opening half.

Queens cut the Newberry lead to singles digits on a jumper from freshman Caitlyn Moore and got within three points of tying the score following a three-pointer from Ceara Leavai with 1:32 left in the second quarter. However, the Wolves ending the frame on a 7-2 run to build a 35-27 advantage at intermission.

The second half began with Queens using eight unanswered points, including seven from junior Lade Adepoju, to tie the score at 35-all. Newberry ended the run with back-to-back three-pointers, building a lead it never relinquished for the remainder of the contest.

Newberry's Meg Essex led all players with 20 points and 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the year, while junior Shelby Britten followed with 17 points of her own.

Adepoju once again led the Royals attack with 17 points and 10 rebounds to record her fourth double-double, as Moore chipped in 11 points and five rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
